A thought came to me a moment ago.
Imagine if the rules of investment has changed to eliminate smaller time frame like 1H, 15 mins trading or face a fine or something, I think perhaps naively that many traders would be much better off in the long term.
Then again, how is the brokerage firm going to make more money if every trader is becoming prudent and careful? The volume of short term traders going in and out by the minutes and hours will amass enough money for them.
Investing is much like gardening, another hobby that I liked. In some ways, they are quite similar. After the seeds or seedlings are planted, beside watering and giving it sufficient sunlight, you wait for it to grow. You watch for signs of any pest attack and do preventive measures like spraying insecticides, pruning, repotting,etc to save the plant.
Same thing for investing. After a stock/index is bought, you monitor its performance either technically from chart or both (technical and fundamental) -reading news and articles that would affect its performance.
You have stop loss in place, employ proper position sizing to not bust your account or take on unnecessary risk. Then, the remaining of the time, you also wait for it to rise or fall depending on your strategy.
In short, it is a waiting game , a game of patience.
