I would suggest looking into the Parachain Auction on KSM and DOT. Its a very interesting project and it is not just a testnet. It is a Dot sibling and it has several advantages over DOT. Projects can choose to remain on Kusama if it is a better fit for them. By staking your tokens you can participate in the bid and a chance to win the tokens that you lock your KSM in.
