William Blau Ergodic Tick Volume Indicator (TVI) [Loxx]William Blau Ergodic Tick Volume Indicator (TVI) is a volume/volatility indicator that is used for finding reversals in price movement
What is William Blau Ergodic Tick Volume?
This is one of the techniques described by William Blau in his book "Momentum, Direction and Divergence" (1995). If you like to learn more, we advise you to read this book. His book focuses on three key aspects of trading: momentum, direction and divergence. Blau, who was an electrical engineer before becoming a trader, thoroughly examines the relationship between price and momentum in step-by-step examples. From this grounding, he then looks at the deficiencies in other oscillators and introduces some innovative techniques, including a fresh twist on Stochastics. On directional issues, he analyzes the intricacies of ADX and offers a unique approach to help define trending and non-trending periods.
William Blau's definition of TVI ergodicity is that the indictor is ergodic when periods are set to 32, 5, 1, and the signal is set to 5. Other combinations are not ergodic, according to Blau.
How to use TVI
TVI bar color change is a signal to enter the market. When the TVI changes from yellow to red, it is a signal to buy and if the TVI bar changes from blue to green, it is a signal to sell.
Just like the MACD and TRIX, the zero line on the indicator determines market sentiment and trend. If the TVI bars are above the zero line it's bullish and if the TVI bars are below the zero line the trend is bearish. Zero line crosses can be used to determine continuation and trend entries as well.

Ergodic Mean Deviation Indicator [CC]The Ergodic Mean Deviation Indicator was created by William Blau and this is a hidden gem that takes the difference between the current price and it's exponential moving average and then double smooths the result to create this indicator. This double smoothing of course creates a lag that allows it to give off a sustained buy signal during a bullish trend and vice versa. This is a very fun indicator to experiment with and surprised that no one on here gives William Blau much attention so I will go ahead and publish the rest of his scripts eventually. I have included strong buy and sell signals in addition to normal ones so strong signals are darker in color and normal signals are lighter in color. Buy when the line turns green and sell when it turns red.
Let me know if there are any other indicators or scripts you would like to see me publish!

This System was created from the Book "How I Tripled My Money In The
Futures Market" by Ulf Jensen, Page 183. This is reverse type of strategies.
The strategy buys at market, if close price is higher than the previous close
during 2 days and the meaning of 9-days Stochastic Slow Oscillator is lower than 50.
The strategy sells at market, if close price is lower than the previous close price
during 2 days and the meaning of 9-days Stochastic Fast Oscillator is higher than 50.
Second strategy
The SMI Ergodic Indicator is the same as the True Strength Index (TSI) developed by
William Blau, except the SMI includes a signal line. The SMI uses double moving averages
of price minus previous price over 2 time frames. The signal line, which is an EMA of the
SMI, is plotted to help trigger trading signals. Adjustable guides are also given to fine
tune these signals. The user may change the input (close), method (EMA), period lengths
and guide values.

SMIO strat SMIO strat with longer input which rounds off the trends. The strat is based on when SMIO hits over 0 it sends a buy signal and when it goes under it sends a short signal. The SMIO input was changed from 20, 5, 5 to 35, 15, 15.

We call this one the ECO for short, but it will be listed on the indicator list
at W. Blau’s Ergodic Candlestick Oscillator. The ECO is a momentum indicator.
It is based on candlestick bars, and takes into account the size and direction
of the candlestick "body". We have found it to be a very good momentum indicator,
and especially smooth, because it is unaffected by gaps in price, unlike many other
momentum indicators.
We like to use this indicator as an additional trend confirmation tool, or as an
alternate trend definition tool, in place of a weekly indicator. The simplest way
of using the indicator is simply to define the trend based on which side of the "0"
line the indicator is located on. If the indicator is above "0", then the trend is up.
If the indicator is below "0" then the trend is down. You can add an additional
qualifier by noting the "slope" of the indicator, and the crossing points of the slow
and fast lines. Some like to use the slope alone to define trend direction. If the
lines are sloping upward, the trend is up. Alternately, if the lines are sloping
downward, the trend is down. In this view, the point where the lines "cross" is the
point where the trend changes.
When the ECO is below the "0" line, the trend is down, and we are qualified only to
sell on new short signals from the Hi-Lo Activator. In other words, when the ECO is
above 0, we are not allowed to take short signals, and when the ECO is below 0, we
are not allowed to take long signals.
