stelaraX - Trend Intensity Index

stelaraX – Trend Intensity Index
stelaraX – Trend Intensity Index is a trend-strength oscillator designed to quantify how consistently price trades above or below its moving average baseline. Instead of measuring pure momentum, it measures directional dominance by comparing positive versus negative deviation from an SMA, producing a 0–100 intensity score with a smoothing signal line.
This indicator is part of the stelaraX ecosystem, focused on clean technical analysis and AI-supported chart evaluation

Core logic
The script calculates a simple moving average (SMA) of the chosen source and measures how much price deviates above versus below that SMA over a defined lookback period. These deviations are accumulated and converted into a percentage-based dominance score.
Key principles:
* SMA baseline is calculated over the main period
* positive deviation is counted when price is above the SMA
* negative deviation is counted when price is below the SMA
* the TII score represents the share of bullish deviation versus total deviation
* 100 means all deviation is above the SMA (strong bullish dominance)
* 0 means all deviation is below the SMA (strong bearish dominance)
* 50 indicates balanced/neutral pressure
* a signal line is computed as an SMA of the TII for smoothing and confirmation
* threshold alerts are defined at 80 (strong bullish) and 20 (strong bearish)
This makes TII a clean “trend intensity” measure rather than a fast reversal oscillator.
Visualization
The script plots:
* the TII line in a separate indicator pane
* a smoothing signal line
* reference levels at 80, 50, and 20 for regime identification
* alert conditions when TII crosses above 80 or below 20
This layout supports quick classification into bullish, neutral, or bearish intensity states.
Use case
This indicator is intended for:
* measuring trend strength and directional dominance
* filtering trades by trading only when intensity is clearly bullish/bearish
* confirming trend continuation when TII holds above/below key thresholds
* avoiding chop when TII hovers near 50
* combining with structure and volatility tools for higher-confidence entries
It works well as a trend filter alongside breakout systems (ORB), MA frameworks, and liquidity/structure concepts where trend quality matters.
