Core logic

The Vortex Indicator consists of two lines, VI+ and VI−, which measure upward and downward movement over a defined lookback period and normalize it by total market volatility.

Key principles:

* VI+ measures positive directional movement
* VI− measures negative directional movement
* both components are normalized using summed true range
* values fluctuate around a neutral equilibrium
* when VI+ is above VI−, bullish trend conditions dominate
* when VI− is above VI+, bearish trend conditions dominate

Crossovers between VI+ and VI− often signal trend initiation or changes in dominant direction.

The script plots:

* the VI+ line in a separate indicator pane
