Use VXX to figure out direction of the market

Use the VXX as a tell instead of buying blindly. Time the buys/sells using VXX. Much safer to buy stocks when volatility is dropping.

3 PM 3/29. SPY at 265 and VXX at 47.20, just below trendline.

Short term uptrend over, now consolidating sideways. VXX tight between 48 and 50. Should get a real move on a break of either side. Resume uptrend or breakdown.
