Converging trend lines characterise the consolidation period of pennants, which can last anywhere from one to three weeks. Pennants are structurally similar to flags. The volume of the pennant during each period is also critical. During the breakout, the initial move must be met with a large volume, followed by a large increase in volume during the pennant's weakening.
