The 아르헨티나 스탁 마켓 is comprised of several stock exchanges and the primary stock exchange is the Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos (BYMA), internationally known as the Argentine Stock Exchanges and Markets, which was founded in 1854. It is headquartered in Buenos Aires, the country's capital, most populous city and vibrant financial center. The BYMA represents over 1,800 listings, among them actively traded companies such as BBVA Francés, Pampa Energía, Sociedad Comercial del Plata, Telecom Argentina and Banco Macro.
The BYMA has a benchmark stock index called the MERVAL Index, a basket-weighted index that tracks the performance of a portfolio of the largest publicly traded companies based in Argentina. It is widely used to track the stocks of Argentina. It also has another well-known index called the BURCAP. This index uses stocks that are included in the MERVAL as its components, weighting each stock according to its market capitalization.
