Monero is a good long term investment, not because of its anonymity, but there is a hidden reason. The thing with monero is that its far from unique, BCN is like the original monero and its giving monero some friendly competition.
The hidden reason why monero will be a great succes is because its being backed by poloniex. Poloniex had a 640 % increase in users since Januari. Poloniex has a special XMR category just like ETH. And we all know where ETH ended up now!
My guess is that Monero is being held down for accumulation, but its gonna pop up hard this year for sure. Hopefully for the longs pretty soon:)
All in all a very safe long term investment.

While I agree with your prediction and the Poloniex advantage XMR has, I have to say that BCN is not a competitor of XMR. Although both are based on Cryptonote, XMR has been so far changed and modified and developed that there are not many similarities between those two any more. So yes XMR is a unique Cryptonote coin. Even if somebody would fork it, it would still remain unique with the community and developers around.
